Jamie Foxx, who was born on December 13, 1967, in Terrell, Texas, USA is an American actor and singer, a member of the stand-up close-up comedy. He became widely known for the role of Ray Charles in the biographical film "Ray". Having played in "Ray", he became the third African American to receive the Oscar. Known also for roles in the films "Collaretal", "Law-Abiding Citizen ","Dzhango Unchained", "White House Down", "The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ","Ali”.
Jamie was born in the town of Terrell, Texas. His mother was Louise Annette Talley Dixon, and her father was Darrel Bishop, who worked as a broker and changed his name to Shahid Abdullah after accepting Islam. Soon after the birth, Fox was adopted by the adoptive parents of mother Esther Marie, a nurse and housewife and Mark Talley, a warehouse worker. He sometimes met his real parents, but they never took part in his upbringing. Fox grew up in the black quarter of Terrell and was brought up in the spirit of a Baptist. He often referred to the influence of his adopted grandmother on his life.
He began taking piano lessons from the age of five thanks to his grandmother. Jamie studied in church groups in Terrell, then studied classical music in college. He was also interested in football and he seriously thought about the career of a football player in the Dallas Cowboys.
Foxx changed his name during participation in stand-up comedy, after he learned that female comedians were invited to perform first. He chose a name for himself after another famous comedian, Red Fox.
After a small role in the show "Roc" Foxx joined the cast of the series "In Living Colour" in 1991. Here he won the audience's love with a lot of unusual characters, such as the terrible girl Wanda, the fictional boxer Carl "Tooth" Williams; and the champion of the Golden Dozen, Ty-Dog Jenkins.
His first dramatic role was in Oliver Stone's film “Any Given Sunday”, where he played a football player. He was invited to this role, as he himself was a football player. After that, he became one of the most prominent actors in Hollywood. His next film was "Collateral", in which he played the role of taxi driver Max, for which he received excellent reviews and a nomination for "Oscar" (best supporting actor in the second plan), his partner in the film was Tom Cruise. But his best role was the role of Ray Charles in the film biography "Ray" (2004), for which he received an Oscar for Best Actor.
Jamie Foxx is the second man and the first African American, twice nominated for an Oscar in one year (for roles in the films "Collateral" and "Ray"). Before him there was only one man who achieved this - Al Pacino. In 2005, Foxx was invited to join the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts.
After this success, Foxx starred in three more films: "Jarhead", "Miami Vice", “Dream Girls", received huge fees in theatres and made Jamie one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. In 2007, he starred in the film "Kingdom" along with Chris Cooper and Jennifer Garner. In September 2007, the star of Jamie Foxx was laid on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After the ceremony, Jamie said: "It was one of the most wonderful days in my life!"
Fox took piano lessons from the age of 5, later took lessons in classical music. In 1994, he recorded his first album (at the FOX studio) “Peep This”, and in 2001 received the prestigious MTV Video Music Awards.
His musical career went up after he took part in the 2004 song of rapper Kanye West "Slow Jamz", along with rapper Twist. This song reached the first line of the hot American Billboard billboards, as well as the third line in a similar British chart. The next collaboration with Kanye West "Gold Digger", where he sang the song of Ray Charles “I Got a Woman", stayed on top of the hit parade for 10 weeks. In 2005, Jamie took part in the hit single "Georgia" with a rapper from Atlanta and the group Field Mob. The sample of this song was the famous "Georgia on My Mind" Ray Charles. He also participated in recording the track "Build You Up" with the rapper 50 Cent, which appeared on the album of the latter, "The Massacre".
Foxx's next album was called “Unpredictable”. It sold 598,000 copies of this album only for the first week, in the hit parade he started from the second position. Soon “Unpredictable” climbed to the top of the hit parade with 200,000 copies sold for the second week in the US. The album also took ninth place in the top ten albums of Great Britain. Soon this album became platinum. Foxx became the fourth actor to receive the Oscar, whose album was the best-selling in the US (the previous three artists: Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Barbara Streisand). The first song from the album “Unpredictable” with the same name, was a cover version of the song "Wildflower" of the band New Birth.
