Niall James Horan (September 13 1993, Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland) - Irish singer who became famous for the group One Direction and participation in the show The X Factor in 2010.
Niall was born in a small provincial town Mullingar in Ireland on September 13, 1993. Niall's mother is Maura Gallagher, father is Bobby Horan. He has an older brother - Greg. Niall's father and mother divorced when he was 5 years old. Niall and Greg lived for four years with their mother, then with their father. As a result, they decided to relocate to their father, in Mullingar.
Niall studied at a Christian school for boys and sang in a local church choir. Nail's musical talents were revealed in early childhood, and seeing his son's craving for music, his father gave him a guitar for Christmas. Over time, relatives began to positively celebrate Niall's vocal abilities. As the performer himself remembers, from an early age he imagined himself in dreams only on the stage. The idol of his childhood was the singer Michael Buble and he always wanted to be like him.
In early 2010, he participated in the Academy 2 contest with the song "Baby" by Justin Bieber. Then, he auditioned in the casting of The X Factor performed in the city of Dublin with the song " =So Sick" by Ne-Yo. Regarding the audition, Simon Cowell told him: «You're not as good as I thought you were, but I still like you». In addition, Katy Perry voted in favour of the singer advancing to the next stage, this being the decisive vote for him.
After auditioning for The X Factor, Judge Nicole Scherzinger suggested that Niall be part of a group called One Direction along with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. The creation of the group became a reality and the five were sponsored by Simon Cowell. During the competition, the band performed different songs such as "My Life Would Suck without You" by Kelly Clarkson and "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, which made them one of the favourites to win the contest. However, they were in third place, behind Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle. Despite not winning, Cowell paid a contract of two million pounds for One Direction to sign with the record label Syco.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Niall quoted Michael Bublé as one of his main influences because the story of both is similar, since Niall was discovered by his aunt who heard him sing in a car and thought it was the radio, the same it happened with Michael Bublé, except that he was discovered by his father. In his audition for The X Factor, he commented that he would like to be "a great name", like Beyoncé or Justin Bieber. In mid-August 2012, rumours began circulating that Niall was having a love affair with singer Demi Lovato. According to him, they never had met until September on the occasion of the MTV Video Music Awards and that everything was more like a friendship than a romance. In an interview with Now magazine, Niall stated that:
"What really happened was that I always said in my interviews that she liked me and she said that I liked [...] We got in touch through Twitter and we started chatting and we became friends."
Niall is left-handed and is shown as a shy and nervous person. According to him, his best qualities are his big smile, his generosity and his honesty. He is claustrophobic and he has a certain fear of pigeons. His ideal wife, according to him, is the singer Cheryl Cole. He has declared that he is a great admirer of rock bands, such as The Eagles, Bon Jovi, The Script and Coldplay.
